How it works

Rcado is a marketplace for RC gear in the German-speaking countries. Every item has its own product page: new offers from specialist retailers, used listings from private sellers and used prices side by side.

Search and find

  • Product page: For every transmitter, receiver, servo, motor, battery or model we show the price in the retailer’s shop, the current used listings and, where available, what the item actually sells for used.
  • Search with filters: Narrow down by category, condition, price, shipping and pickup, and choose a radius around your postcode.
  • Saved items: Tap the heart to save listings.
  • Search alert: Save a search and we’ll email you as soon as a matching new listing appears. You can create up to 20 search alerts and unsubscribe from each one via the link in the email.

Logging in

There’s no password. You enter your email address and receive a link that is valid for 15 minutes. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder; sometimes it takes a minute or two. You then stay logged in for about 30 days.

Prices: new and used

  • New prices come from the retailers’ product feeds. The price in the retailer’s shop always applies.
  • Used prices are the median and range of prices that sellers reported when they sold. We only show them from 5 sales of a product and never show individual sales. More under How our prices work.

Posting a listing

  1. Photos: Up to 12 pictures, one is enough. Metadata such as the location where the photo was taken is removed. For transmitters, receivers and turbines we also need a photo of the device’s info screen showing serial number and firmware.
  2. What is it: Type a title, pick the matching catalogue product or post it as a custom build.
  3. Price and location: Condition, price, shipping and postcode. We only show the approximate location.

A listing runs for 60 days. Shortly before it ends we email you so you can renew it, mark it as sold or withdraw it. When you sell, you can enter the final price; this is voluntary and only goes into the price statistics anonymously.

We hide contact details in the listing text. Interested buyers reach you through messages.

Messages

You contact the seller of any listing through Rcado. We never pass your email address on to others. Replies arrive under Messages, and you get an email when there are new messages. If someone is bothering you, you can block them in the conversation.

Theft register

Before buying a used device you can check the serial number in the theft register, even without an account. With an account you can register your own devices and report them stolen if the worst happens. We automatically check every new listing against the register. “No entry” is no guarantee that a device isn’t stolen.

Seller profile

For every seller we show how long they’ve been a member, how many listings they’ve had and sold and, once there have been at least five enquiries, how often and how quickly they reply. We count these figures ourselves; sellers can’t enter them.

Costs

  • Rcado is free for private users: searching, posting, messaging, checking the register.
  • We take no commission and don’t process payments. Payment is made between buyer and seller.
  • Retailers can add their offers via a product feed. This is free during the launch phase; more under For retailers.

Something wrong?

Every listing and every message has a “Report” option, even without an account. For anything else, write to us via the contact page. Tips on paying and shipping are under Trading safely.
